Tulsa to Host Major Youth Soccer Tournament

The Tulsa Sports Commission announced today that Tulsa will host the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Championships at Mohawk Soccer Complex. The elite tournament will be held July 20-26.

The US Youth Soccer National Championships Series is the country's oldest and most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. Ninety-six teams from around the nation will attend. The tournament is expected to have an economic impact of over $4 million in the Tulsa region.

"The Tulsa Sports Commission is honored to host the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Championships," said Ray Hoyt, senior vice president of VisitTulsa and the Tulsa Sports Commission. "In partnership with the Oklahoma Soccer Association, the Tulsa Sports Commission looks forward to showcasing a great tournament for the elite players who earn their way to nationals."

The national championship tournament is the final stage of the US Youth Soccer National Championships Series and is open to any US Youth Soccer member. Each year, more than 10,000 teams play in the series trying to become one of the best youth soccer teams in the United States.

Mohawk Soccer Complex, marketed and managed by Tulsa Sports Commission, will undergo a series of enhancements leading up to the event. The facility is scheduled to add 4,000 stadium-style seats and exterior fencing around the complex.

Teams participating in the US Youth Soccer National Championships will include the regional champions in the U-13 boys and girls age groups, as well as the US Youth Soccer National League qualifiers in the U-14 through U-18 boys and girls age groups.
