Aces step up to the plate

Orlando, FL. The ABA Orlando Aces are setting a high standard of community service in the Orlando community. On Tuesday, Nov 22, the Aces took part in a Special Olympics basketball team practice. Aces players offered individual instruction and tooped off the night with a scrimmage game.

Aces owner/Head Coach Todd Triplett and players Jeremy File, Mike Toth and Benjamin Colon will volunteer at the Golf for Graham Tournament at Reunion Resort & Club on December 1st. This event is held in memory of Graham Frechette, sone of Roger & Luldes Frechette, who died tragically following a boating accident at age 2 and a half. The 2-day event, which includes a golf tournament on Sat, Dec 2 will raise funds to support the Graham Frechette Foundation which assists other parents who have lost children by providing them with grief counseling.

Coach Triplett, who has 3 young daughters of his own, said, "I cannot imagine losing a child, especially at such a young age. I feel it is my duty as a parent, business owner and head coach to do whatever I can to support this important tournament."

On Dec 8, the Aces will also volunteer services for Project Homeless Connect, a national program that connects people in need with benefits, medical care, employment opportunities, substance abuse and mental health counseling, social services, food, housing and shelter information.

"The game of basketball is not just a game," Triplett stated. "It teaches critical societal elements like teamwork, leadership, accountability, and respect for authority. The vision of the Orlando Aces is to utilize the game of basketball as a tool to change the lives of the people they connect with for the better, whether they are young, old, represent the Orlando community or are in other places throughout the world."
