Aces Effort to Upend Sun Comes up Short in 72-65 Loss

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Aces (2-2) effort to knock the Connecticut Sun (5-0) from the ranks of the unbeaten came up just short, Sunday afternoon, as the Sun emerged with a 72-65 victory.

KEY RUNS

First Quarter (Connecticut 18, Las Vegas 8)

Connecticut scored 14 of the first 18 points of the game. The 8 points scored by the Aces is tied for the lowest scoring quarter for the team since they moved to Las Vegas.

Second Quarter (Las Vegas 33, Connecticut 27)

After the Sun extended their lead to 11, 20-9, early in the period, Las Vegas outscored the Sun 24-7 to close out the stanza.

Third Quarter (Connecticut 50, Las Vegas 43)

It was still a six-point Aces lead, 39-33, with 6:14 to go in the quarter, but Connecticut scored 17 straight points to re-take the lead.

Fourth Quarter (Connecticut 72, Las Vegas 65)

Connecticut's lead vacillated between two and nine points throughout the entirety of the period, and the Aces were never able to regain the lead.

Connecticut grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, turning them into 12 second-chance points. The Aces snagged just one offensive rebound.
