Aces Drop Game Four 2-1 in Overtime

Andrew Clark scored 13:03 into overtime to provide the Stockton Thunder with their latest comeback win, and hand the Alaska Aces a 2-1 Game 4 loss on Friday night from Stockton Arena. The Aces lost their second straight game on the road, and third straight of the series, and now trail the best-of-seven, Western Conference Semifinals 3-1. The Aces now face a must-win scenario on Sunday in Game 5 to keep their season alive. Alaska suffocated Stockton in the opening period. The Aces held the Thunder without a shot on goal for more than 14 minutes and scored the only goal of the period. On a power play Nick Mazzolini uncorked a slap shot from the right circle that beat Olivier Roy at 11:52 to make it 1-0 Aces. Alaska outshot Stockton 11-3 in the period.

Stockton generated much more chances in the second period, but Gerald Coleman and the Aces kept them off the board. Coleman made all 13 saves required of him in the frame, while Roy stopped ten of ten against for Stockton. The Aces took their 1-0 lead into the third period.

The Thunder forced overtime when Eric Hunter scored on a goal-mouth scramble at 10:25 to tie the score at 1-1. The Aces outshot the Thunder 12-9 in the period, and went to OT for the first time in the playoffs.

Stockton had the better of the chances in overtime, which featured a power play opportunity to both clubs. The Thunder outshot the Aces 10-1 in the extra session, and Clark ended the game when he crept out from behind the net and squeezed a puck between Coleman and the right post.

Gerald Coleman (3-4) played well in defeat, making 33 saves on 35 shot. Olivier Roy (7-4) made 33 saves on 34 shots and earned the win. The Aces went 1-4 on the power play, while the Thunder went 0-4. The Aces were outshot by the Thunder 35-34 in the game.
