BURLINGTON, VT --- Dee Brown snapped a 9-9 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run to leftcenter and Lorvin Louisa added a two-run homer later in the inning as that the Aberdeen Ironbirds 14-10 in New York-Penn League action Wednesday night at Centennial Field.

Brown, who had not homered in his previous 59 at bats dating back to June 30th, belted a 2-2 pitch from Bryan Dumesnil into the gap in left-centerfield that carried over the wall for Brown's fourth home run of the season.

Then after a Rolando Arnedo infield single, Louisa belted the first pitch he saw from Dumesil (0-2) past the light tower and onto the soccer field beyond leftfield for his second homer of the season. The Expos added two more runs in the inning for a 14-9 lead.

Aberdeen looked to be in control of the game at the start as they scored four unearned runs in the top of the first, then single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings for a 7-1 lead.

But the Expos sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning to score eight runs on just four hits, including two straight singles that were lost in the sky by the Ironbird outfield. There also were four walks and a hit batter in the inning as Vermont took a 9-7 lead and scored eight runs in an inning for the third time this season.

Aberdeen tied the game in the eighth inning with two runs on three hits off Expos reliever Ricky Shefka. The Ironbirds, who entered the game averaging just 2.93 runs per game and hitting just .211 as a team, finished with 17 hits on the night.

Francisco Guererro was 3-for-4 with two runs for Aberdeen, while seven other Ironbirds had two hits and four players scored two runs. Louisa had three RBI for Vermont, while newcomer Rolando Arnedo was 2-for-4 with two runs and Jose Contreras had four walks, two runs and two RBI.

David Trahan (1-0) allowed a run in the top of the ninth, but tossed the final 1.1 innings for his first win of the season as Vermont snapped a six-game losing streak.

The Expos (8-21) and Ironbirds (10-18) will play the final game of the three-game series at Centennial Field on Thursday night with newcomer Chris Lugo making his first start and appearance for Vermont.
