ABA Summer pro league action continues

August 12, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Westchester, CA. Sean Higgins, organizer of the ABA's first Summer Pro basketball league saw the best and worst of his Inglewood Cobras on Thursday. The best took Inglewood to a 20 point lead in the second and third quarters. The worst took them to their first loss in the ABASPL as 9Sports rallied from 13 points down in the final two minutes to take the game into overtime and eventually win 146-142. It was an exciting hard fought game symbolic of almost every game in this very dynamic summer league.

The overtime was shot for shot with Al Strickland and Lamar Gale hitting three pointers for 9Sports. Profit scored 5 points and Mike Jones 4 in the overtime for the Cobras, but Inglewood could not overcome the deficit. Johnson led the Cobras with 27 points and 7 rebounds while Mike Jones added 25. Kendrick Cornelius had 20 points and Cole Miller 17 for Inglewood. James Profit, Robert Banks and Patrick Robinson all finished in double figures for the Cobras. Lamar Gale was the games high scorer with 30 points for 9Sports win. Taron Williams added 26 points and 16 rebounds (12 offensive). Ryan Abrams and Al Strickland added 24 and 20 respectively for the undefeated 9Sports team. Inglewood plays Friday at 730pm PST against the Los Angeles Aftershock. The game can be heard on www.9sportsentertainment.com and www.laaftershock.com. More league information is available at www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
