ABA returns to North Carolina

Published on July 7, 2006 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it will return to North Carolina when it resumes play in November with a team in Wilmington, North Carolina, the home of NBA legend Michael Jordan. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We are very excited to make this announcement. The ownership/management group that put this together is extraordinary and has been working on this project for many months getting everything set. This should be a fabulous addition to the ABA and it certainly fits well into our divisions linking Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia."

Leading the new ownership group is Peter Gratale, President of Seagate Management Company in Wrightville Beach, North Carolina. "This is a dream come true for my partners and me. We saw the All Star Game in Florida last winter and were amazed at the quality of players and the fast-paced exciting ABA game. We think the ABA is a natural for Wilmington - and we know that we have the players from North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest and so many other great basketball schools in the area. We will have a great team."

The team will make additional announcements regularly relating to team name, venue, schedule, coaches, personnel, community programs, tryouts, web site and other key information. For more information, email Peter Gratale at pgratale@seagatemgmt.com or call 910 256 4344 or visit www.abalive.com.
