ABA Now Accepting Market Reservations for 2010 Season
Published on August 13, 2009 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) announced today that it is accepting market reservations for the 2010 season. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We have had record-setting growth this season, probably larger expansion than any other professional sports league ever, with over 30 new teams set to begin play in December. The reason for the rapid growth is because we believe we have the best business model in professional sports - it is easier to own and operate an ABA team than any other, and when the business and marketing plan is followed, the chances of success are great - success translating to profitability."
"With minimum investment, minimum risk and great chance for excellent profits, anyone interested in owning a professional sports team should look closely at the ABA," Newman continued. "The ABA has eight divisions including Northeast, North Central, South Central, Southeast, Southwest, Northern California, Southern California and Pacific Northwest. There are quite a few excellent cities available within these divisions and that helps to make travel much easier. However, we are interested in developing other areas including having teams in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico as well as North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Additional teams in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia would work well within existing divisions."
In addition to the 50 plus teams set for this season, the ABA has already reserved markets for 2010 in Shreveport LA, Rio Grande Valley TX, Stockton CA, Austin TX, Juarex MX, Syracuse NY, Minneapolis/St. Paul MN, Akron/Canton OH, Aurora IL and Lakeland FL for next season. The ABA recently announced an agreement with VERSUS Network (www.versus.com) to televise games nationally this season.
