ABA addes expansion team in Henderson , Nevada

December 12, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association today announced that a second Nevada team will be added to its rapidly growing 2007 list of expansion teams - Henderson, Nevada. According to Joe Newman, "The Las Vegas area is growing rapidly - there is a population boom there and Henderson can certainly support a second team "in the desert." It will make a great natural rival for the tremendous new team being developed in Las Vegas next season - and will make two game road trips from the West Coast perfect."

The ownership group is being led by the husband and wife team of Tyrone Nesby, a former UNLV star who played with the NBA Los Angeles Clippers from 1999-2000 and with the Washington Wizards from 2000-2002 with Michael Jordan, and Mrs. Nesby under the banner of the Tyrone Nesby Foundation, a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to help teach young underprivileged children how to play basketball and life skills to direct them on the right path away from negative influences. The Foundation will also feed the homeless, donate clothing and food to the less fortunate. For more information, visit www.tnesfoundation.com.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Tyrone and his wife have excellent reputations in the Las Vegas area and are very committed to helping young people and those in need. This is the first ABA team that will be owned by a not-for-profit organization - and will be interesting to see how the community rallies around it. We do know that they know basketball and business - and now we have a very exciting new element to add to the mix."

"We are very pleased that the ABA has given us this opportunity, it means a lot to us," added Nesby. "What is even more impressive is that the ABA waived its market reservation fee as a contribution to the Tyrone Nesby Foundation - their way of saying how much they support what we are doing. It was a kind and generous thing to do. And now, we want to get started and really compete with the Las Vegas team and the others on the West Coast."

Details about the website, team name and other things will follow. For more information, visit www.abalive.com.
