A Players' Practice

Rochester RazorSharks News Release
Coach Rod Baker gave it a rest Thursday at practice. He let the Rochester RazorShark inmates run the assylum, so to speak.
It was planned in advance and the players knew it was coming. Baker turned things over to the point guards Jerice Crouch, Melvin Council and Lonnell Shuler-Jones.
"The point guard is like the second coach out there anyway," said Shuler-Jones. "It shows that he trusts us to do things like that, that he believes in us."
"It was our own agenda, things we thought we could get better at," said Crouch. "It was cool, especially because I am trying to become a coach someday."
Crouch claimed a point of emphasis was working on rotations off pick and rolls and better communication on the court. Coach thought it all went well.
"They need to start thinking about how the game comes out from them, rather than towards them," said Baker. "We'll give each group a day, and let them plan practice on what they think they need to work on. Just to have them think about it a little more, and let the guys hear a different voice."
On Monday, shooting guards Keith Friel and Todd McCoy will run practice from 2-4pm at the Penfield YMCA.

Forward Mike Williams continues to deal with knee issues but they haven't affected his play. Williams sprained a knee in the shoot around prior to the game with Lawton, and actually took treatment during the action. Williams was credited with 15 rebounds to go with his 12 points.

RazorShark assistant general manager Clay Pittinaro just completed his first season coaching boys basketball at the School of the Arts. SOTA went 0-19. The team hasn't won a game in four seasons.

The RazorSharks host Dayton Saturday afternoon at the Blue Cross Arena. Tip off at 1:05pm. It's Hooray for Hollywood Night, in honor of the Academy Award presentations Sunday. The Sharks will hold a costume contest with prizes for the best Hollywood character look-alikes.
