
"A-OK" Leads Pride to 7-3 Victory Over the Spirit

(NASHUA, NH, September 12, 2007) Pride righthander Akira Okamoto allowed just four hits over seven and two-thirds innings Wednesday night as Nashua downed the North Shore Spirit, 7-3, in game one of the Can Am League Championship Series in front of 1,507 fans at Historic Holman Stadium. The best-of-five showdown will resume Thursday evening in Nashua at 7:05.
The Pride jumped on North Shore starter Ryan Bicondoa for three runs in the first inning on a bases clearing triple by Luis Rodriguez. Bicondoa walked John Ramistella, Olmo Rosario and Chris Colabello before Roriguez delivered.
Rosario, the Can Am League Player of the Year, belted a solo homerun for Nashua in the fifth inning and the Pride added three in the sixth. The big hit was a two-run single by Colabello.
In earning the victory, Okamoto walked two, struck out two and hit one batter. It was Okamoto's second victory of the postseason for Nashua. Steve Palazzolo relieved Okamoto in the eighth inning and recorded the final four outs of the game for the Pride.
In suffering the loss, Bicondoa went five and one-third innings, allowing seven hits, seven runs (four earned), he walked five and struck out six.
The game two starters will be Joe Gannon (RHP, 1-1, 3.30) for the Pride and Matthew Bishop (9-5, 3.42) for the Spirit. All Pride postseason games can be heard on the Internet at www.nashuapride.com or www.canamleague.com.
