Dear Kastles Fans,
On Wednesday night, for the first time in the 12 year history of the Washington Kastles, rain washed out our match against the Orange County Breakers. The entire Kastles team hoped the evening would feature a triumphant victory at our brand new Kastles Stadium on Union Market, but unfortunately the rain and a court that wouldn't dry beat us.
The entire staff and crew worked tirelessly for hours to dry the court and make the match as special and memorable for everyone in attendance, as they have each and every match for over a decade. As disappointed as we are, we understand it is doubly so for our loyal Kastles fans, who came out on a Wednesday night to see the best tennis players in the world compete with everything they have for the King Trophy. Our whole team was deeply moved by the number of people that stayed for hours, also hoping that we could play the match. Many of you came to the open bar downstairs in Union Market with the players, enjoying the free drinks and offering encouraging words of support and understanding. The whole experience only reconfirmed what we have known for a long time that Kastles fans are truly the best sports fans in the world.
We had hoped that we could reschedule the match at home another time during the season, but that isn't possible given tight travel schedules for both teams, so the match will have to be played around our scheduled away match in Orange County on July 31.
For your generous patience and understanding about the situation, I would like to offer all those who purchased a ticket to Wednesday night's match two tickets to a match at the 2019 Citi Open, where we will unveil a reimagined and transformed fan experience, for any session between July 27-30. Bring a family member or friend, on me, to see the game's biggest stars at another great Washington summer tennis tradition. If you will not be around to enjoy the tournament, or prefer your money back, I have instructed the box office staff to refund your money in full with your ticket stubs, no questions asked.
As tough as Wednesday night was for all of us, the team will be fighting harder than ever for the rest of the season to bring the King Trophy back to DC and our staff will continue to work harder than ever to deliver a world class experience for our fans in our iconic new Kastles Stadium on Union Market.
Thank you for your support,
Mark Ein
