A book about the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is under way
January 21, 2009 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
Québec, January 18th 2009 - A book about the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) is currently being writtten by a writer from Quebec City, Mr. Michel-André Roy.
The project plans to describe day to day life in the Q, drawing profiles of the people who fill the circuit. Following a tour of the 18 cities making up the league, the author will also relate the experience of watching a game in each and every arena of the league.
This book is therefore an account of a trip - a winter tour of the Northeast - but also a look at the high hopes carried by many and the setbacks suffered by others. This wide look has for background arenas as different from one another as the cities who shelter them, from Abitibi to Maine, from Quebec's North Shore to Prince Edward Island, via Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. What's it like to hop on the Quebec Remparts' bus for a 10-day trip in the Maritimes ? To sit by the play-by-play guy of the Rimouski Oceanic ? To travel with the referee who must drive 300 km to earn 200 $ getting booed by a partisan crowd in Baie-Comeau ?
Combining his perceptive talent with an inconditionnal love of hockey, the author will relate with passion human interest stories never before told by the media, but mightily interesting.
Michel-André Roy is currently under contract with a prestigious publishing house for this project, Flammarion Québec, and is looking for an English publisher. His work is backed by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The book will be out next November.
Mr. Roy is currently touring the League et will be available for interviews all season long.
