Medford Rogues News Release
MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues today announced the commitment of three University of Oregon players to the 2014 roster. Joining the Rogues are outfielder/catcher Alex Jackson (San Diego, CA), left handed pitcher David Peterson (Castle Rock, CO) and catcher Joey Morgan (Sisters, OR). Jackson is rated by maxpreps.com as the number one-ranked high school prospect in the United States. Peterson is ranked in the top 100 high school seniors, and fifth nationally among left handed pitchers, by the same scouting service.
Morgan earned Oregon Class 4A Player of the Year recognition in 2013 at Sisters High School. He joins previously-signed Oregon Class 5A Player of the Year, catcher Kyle Beam (Hood River), and Class 4A First Team All-State pitcher Tyler Gulbransen (Hidden Valley) on the 2014 Rogues roster.
"We're extremely proud to have the trust of (U. of Oregon) Coach Horton in sending us these three players," Rogues General Manager Chuck Heeman said. "Alex and David are projected as high-round draft picks but are committed to school, which says a lot about the quality of the players and their families. Joey adds to what we think is a pretty strong roster at this point in the off-season. Bringing in this level of player really speaks to the quality of program Coach Hogan has been able to bring to Medford and to the quality of our facility and town. We're excited about bringing these three into the mix and going into battle with them in the West Coast League next summer."
