
Rogues Players Start Season

MEDFORD, OR - With the start of the Division I college baseball season Feb. 15, nearly all Medford Rogues players are now into their college seasons. The weekend brought some hot starts, freshmen debuts and one new player commitment to the WCL's newest team.
Hot starts by Rogues players through the first full weekend of play:
Parker Miles, 2B, UC Santa Barbara: Miles, also a 2012 WCL All-Star, is hitting .500 with two RBI and a double.
Austin Byler, 3B, Nevada: Byler, a 2012 WCL All-Star, is hitting .429 with three RBI and a triple as the WolfPack went 2-2 in a weekend series against Kansas.
Joe Chavez, infielder, UC Riverside: Chavez is coming off a 2-for-2 game on Monday and is hitting .273 on the season.
Matt Maurer, LHP, Pepperdine and North Medford High School: Maurer pitched two shutout innings of relief over the weekend.
Two Rogues true freshmen made their college debuts over the weekend as well. Catcher Steven Kha (Corban) starred behind the plate, throwing out four of five runners in helping the Warriors to a 7-0 start. At UC Santa Barbara, LHP Justin Jacome joined the Gauchos' starting rotation and went 3 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking none in an 11-3 win over Fresno State on February 17.
The Rogues also announced the commitment of true freshman catcher Gregory Feinberg of Georgia Tech University. Feinberg participated in the Broward County Athletic Association All-Star Game as a high school senior before signing with the Ramblin' Wreck.
The West Coast League is an 11-team collegiate wood-bat baseball league composed of the best college players, coaches, facilities and operators in the industry. Ranging from Medford, Oregon north to Kelowna, B.C., the league has operated as the WCL since 2005. In 2012, a league record 57 WCL players were selected in the Major League draft.
