Super Bowl Champion Gary Russell Signs with Marion

MARION, OH- The Marion Blue Racers is proud to announce that they have come to terms with former University of Minnesota standout and 3-year NFL veteran Gary Russell. Russell, a Superbowl Champion Pittsburgh Steeler, will join the Marion Blue Racers Professional Football Team at the running back position.
Russell was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007. He notably, rushed for a one-yard touchdown during the second quarter of Super Bowl XLIII.
He finished the game with two attempts for -3 yards and 1 TD on the way to his first Super Bowl Ring. He joins Blue Racer CEO and General Manager LaMonte Coleman as not only NFL alumni in the Marion Blue Racer organization, but both were also Superbowl Pittsburgh Steeler running backs.
"I am pleased to bring a player like Gary to Marion, Ohio," Head Coach, LaMonte Coleman stated. "I signed him in the middle of his workout at a local gym. His world class work ethic will be a valuable commodity on and off the field."
Since last season, your Marion Blue Racers, have returned to the CIFL for the 2013 season. Kick off for home games are slated at 7:30pm. The season begins in February of 2013.
