Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks' President and General Manager Brent Thiessen announced Friday the Central Hockey League (CHL) team has signed forwards Toms Hartmanis and Dale Mahovsky.

Hartmanis, 23 (12/12/87), joins the Mavericks after playing alongside Mavericks' goaltender Charlie Effinger last season with the Newcastle Vipers in England. The 6-foot-0, 185-pound forward averaged over a point per contest with the Vipers with 60 points on 25 goals and 35 assists in 56 games played. Prior to playing in Newcastle, the Liepaja, Latvia native played for Dinamo Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and for the Dinamo Juniors Riga for the past two seasons. Prior to turning pro, Hartmanis played for the Latvian national U20 and U18 teams.

Mahovsky, 26 (1/12/85), enters his sophomore season professionally after playing for the ECHL's Elmira Jackals and the Newcastle Vipers during the 2010-11 season. The Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta native finished with 30 points (15-1530) in 33 games with Newcastle and had 12 points (4-812) in 28 games in the ECHL. Prior to his rookie season, the 6-foot-0, 180-pound forward played four seasons of Canadian University hockey and five seasons of major junior hockey in Canada. Mahovsky had 27 goals and 29 goals in 111 games with the University of Alberta. He finished his junior career with 234 points (86-148234) in 344 games with the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Kootenay Ice.

"Both Hartmanis and Mahovsky are good young players that show a lot of offensive potential," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "Both players were teammates of Charlie Effinger last year, and from the same team that we recruited Mike Berry from last summer. Hartmanis and Mahovsky each put up very similar numbers that Berry had in their year prior to joining the Mavs. We are very excited to bring two more young, exciting players to camp and have them competing with us."

The Missouri Mavericks will begin their third season in the Central Hockey League in October, and the home opener is Saturday, November 5 against the Wichita Thunder. The Mavericks play their home games at the state-of-the-art Independence Events Center where parking is always free. Tickets for all regular season games go on sale on Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at the Mavericks' Fan Fest. Call (816) 252-7825 for more information or visit www.MissouriMavericks.com .
