"French Assassin" Dieude-Fauvel Back With Bucks
August 13, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release
The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Friday that they have re-signed defenseman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel for the 2010-11 season. Dieude-Fauvel is entering his seventh professional season including his second with the Bucks.
Last season in Laredo Dieude-Fauvel (pronounced DEE-u-day- FAW-vel) had a solid first season in North America notching career highs in games played (64), goals (9), assists (15), points (24) and PIM's (101). In the 2010 playoffs Dieude-Fauvel, who will turn 24 years old on August 26th, had one assist and eight PIM's in the Bucks seven game series with Allen.
"Benny was a very pleasant surprise for us last season there's no doubt," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He adapted to the North American style of play very quickly and became an impact player on our team. We expect him to continue his physical play and help our team win games this season."
Dieude-Fauvel, a native of Aimens, France, had four multi-point games last season. The "French Assassin" picked up his first-ever professional hat trick in the Bucks 3-2 shootout win at Rio Grande Valley on February 5th. Dieude-Fauvel led the Bucks back from a 2-0 deficit that night by scoring two third period goals, including the game-tying goal shorthanded, followed by the game-winning goal in the fifth-round of the shootout.
The 6'1, 190 pound Dieude-Fauvel had a career-high five-game point streak from February 26th-March 6th leading the Bucks to a 3-1-1 record during that span.
Dieude-Fauvel was voted the third-best body checker by his peers in last seasons annual CHL "Best of the Best Poll".
"Benny's offensive game came to life last season but his strength is that he's a very tough, hardnosed and physical player who doesn't back down from anyone," said Ruskowski. "He hits like a Mack truck."
Dieude-Fauvel was a member of the 2008 France National Team.
Prior to last season in Laredo Dieude-Fauvel spent the first five years of his playing career in his native France, where he played in 118 professional games and put up 27 points (13-14=27).
In 2008-09 Dieude-Fauvel played in a total of 26 games for HC Morzine-Avoriaz, where he scored 13 points (3-4=7) and put up 40 PIM's.
Dieude-Fauvel spent parts of three seasons with HC Amiens, including part of 2004-05, and all of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns.
In 2007-08 Dieude-Fauvel scored five points (3-2=5) with 70 PIM's in 26 games. In 2006-07 he notched career highs in goals (6), assists (5), and points (11) in 26 games.
