Charleston Battery News Release

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery has signed Nigerian midfielder Ugo Okoye and Israeli striker, Alon Lubezky for the 2005 USL First Division season. Okoye joins Charleston after impressing at the first week of player trials held last December. Lubezky arrives at the Battery for his rookie pro-season after a stand-out four-year college career at the University of Hartford.

Charleston Battery Head Coach, Mike Anhaeuser,

"We noticed Ugo's ability at the first Battery combine in December; he has the potential to be a creative player in our midfield. Despite his stature he is very strong with the ball and defensively. I was informed of Alon's ability prior to the MLS combines and I liked his movement, work-rate and finishing quality during my time in LA. Alon brings an excellent scoring record from college and hopefully he will carry this over into his professional career. "
