HUNTSVILLE – Tennessee Valley Football has a new name, a new look and a new league.

The Tennessee Valley franchise will now be known as the "Pythons" and compete in the newly-formed United Indoor Football, which includes 12 teams that are centrally located.

"We just wanted to be a bigger and badder snake,'' said Tennessee Valley owner Art Clarkson, whose team competed as the "Vipers" during its first five seasons.

Clarkson made the announcement and unveiled a new team logo Wednesday during a press conference in the Von Braun Center lobby.

The Pythons will play eight homes games during a 15-game schedule that is slated to be released later this month. The UIF regular season will run from March to July with playoffs to follow.

"We are moving forward with not only veteran teams, they are successful veteran teams,'' Clarkson said. "Our next step is to get a quality coach and quality players."
