
Peter Zaratin Named Power Goalkeeper Coach

NEW YORK, NY - The New York Power have announced that Peter Zaratin will replace Rob Thompson as their goalkeeper coach. Thompson left the Power last month to become the assist coach at Florida State University. Zaratin's main responsibility will be to work daily with the Power goalkeepers.
He started playing soccer on Long Island, and while attending Glen Cove High School, we was selected to play for the Long Island Select, State, Regional and Empire State teams. Zaratin was also selected to the U-18 U.S. National Team.
Zaratin went on to play college soccer at Santa Clara University. There, he was a member of the 1992 team that went to the National Finals of the NCAA. During his four years he was awarded Honorable Mention and All Far West Conference Player. He finished his career at Santa Clara with 22 shutouts, which was the third best mark in the school's history.
He turned professional immediately after finishing college, playing in the A-League for the Raleigh Flyers and the New York Fever. After a season playing for the Fever he traveled overseas to play in Italy for Triestina. Zaratin later signed with the Montreal Impact, one of the most distinguished teams in the A-League. Midseason with the Impact, he was called upon to play in Germany for Spandauer Sport Verein where he was voted one of the top goalkeepers in the German Regionalliga.
>From 1992-93, Zaratin was the head coach of the Canada College women's soccer team, located in California. He currently is the goalkeeper coach of the New York Freedoms, a team he played for last season and the beginning of 2003 and holds a USSF "A", "B" and "Youth" coaching license.
Zaratin is also the founder and president of Globall Soccer Concepts. Globall Training Centers are soccer specific training facilities that provide professional instruction and guidance throughout a player's development on a year round basis.
