AKRON, Ohio â July 2, 2004 â The Akron Racers Foundation announced Saturday, July 17 as the date for the inaugural "Akron Racers Foundation 9K Opportunity Walk for Women and Girls in Sports."
The Akron Racers and New York/New Jersey Juggernaut women's professional fastpitch softball teams will lead the 9K Opportunity Walk. The walk, which will benefit the Foundation's community outreach and educational programs, is a celebration of the ever-increasing opportunities for women and girls to participate in organized sports at all levels through the achievements of Title IX.

8:30 AM Registration, Check-in.
9:00 AM Stretching and Warm-up Exercises led by Akron Racers
training staff.
9:30 AM Walk Begins
12:00 PM Thank You lunch provided courtesy of the Akron Racers
Foundation
1:05 PM Stay at the Stadium and watch the Akron Racers take on the
NY/NJ Juggernaut: Free admission for walk participants.
The 9K (5.59 mile) route begins and ends at historic Firestone Stadium, 1575 Firestone Parkway, and weaves its way through Akron's Firestone Park neighborhood and around the Stadium grounds. Free parking is available at the Stadium.
All 9K Opportunity Walk participants will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win two round trip tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. courtesy of the Akron/Canton Regional Airport and AirTran Airways.
All registered participants will receive a FREE Akron Racers Foundation 9K Opportunity Walk for Women and Girls in Sport t-shirt. Those who raise $200.00 or more will also receive a special gift.
Registration forms can be picked up at Firestone Stadium, requested via phone 330-376-8188 or email info@akronracers.org. The completed registration panel and $25.00 registration fee (or pledge of $25.00 or more) can be returned to the Akron Racers Foundation, 1575 Firestone Parkway, Akron, OH 44301. Participants may register on-site up to 15 minutes before the start of the walk.
