Wichita Stealth News Release
Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth coaching staff had an impressive turnout on Sunday for their annual player tryouts. Seventy prospective players were put to the test in the 40-yard dash, shuttle run, vertical jump, and the 225-lb bench press. "In the seven tryout camps that I have been involved with, I have not found as many prospects," said Stealth head coach Bob Cortese. "The quality at our tryout camp was better than any other Arena Football League or arenafootball2 camp that I have been to."
Of the seventy prospects attending the camp, four had some National Football League (NFL) experience and two have competed in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Stealth offered contracts to nine players who attended the tryout camp. "We have offered the contracts and it is our job now to sign these players and teach them the game of arena football," said Cortese.
The most impressive thing at the camp for the coaches was the athletic ability and speed of the athletes. "The speed that was shown yesterday was tremendous," said Cortese. "This is the first time that I have timed two guys at the same camp who ran the 40 in 4.4 and who were both six foot three."
The Stealth will begin their third af2 season in April. Season tickets for the 2003 season are on sale now by calling the Stealth office at (316) 755-3307. For more ticket information log on to: www.wichitastealth.com.
