Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Albuquerque Isotopes' bats once again were stymied as the Las Vegas 51s, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, held the ‘Topes to just four hits en route to a 5-1 win today in Spring Training action in Jupiter, Florida. The defeat drops Albuquerque's spring record to record to 3-6.

Of the four hits on the day, two were racked up by outfielder Jai Miller, who had a pair of singles and drove in the Isotopes' only run.

Brett Carroll, an Albuquerque fan favorite last year who was optioned from the Marlins yesterday, also chipped in a double in his first day in Triple-A camp.

Infielder Chris Barnwell, who hit .268 for the Nashville Sounds in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization in 2007, has also joined the ‘Topes after having been reassigned to Triple-A camp a day ago.

Tomorrow, Albuquerque will renew acquaintances with the Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, who have had the ‘Topes' number. In five head-to-head games so far this spring in the quest for Roger Dean Complex bragging rights, the ‘Birds have won four.

The 2008 Isotopes season begins on April 3, with the home opener slated for April 11, when the ‘Topes host the Oklahoma RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Tickets can be purchased at Isotopes Park or any Ticketmaster outlet, www.ticketmaster.com, or Ticketmaster by Phone 505-883-7800.
