Virginia Destroyers News Release
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA (October 3, 2011) The Virginia Destroyers will feature nationally acclaimed musical group 4Shore at halftime of Friday's game between the Destroyers (2-0) and the Sacramento Mountain Lions (0-2). Kickoff is 7 pm at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
"It's absolutely phenomenal to be part of helping support a new team," said Allynn Walker-Bey, one of four members of 4Shore. "We think of it as home supporting home since we're both from Virginia Beach."
4Shore will also sing the national anthem on Friday.
Walker-Bey, Daijreous Poole, Jessie Munn and Brandon Showell comprise the musical act 4Shore, which received national exposure last week on a popular Fox television talent show featuring Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul.
Walker-Bey describes 4Shore's sound as a hybrid of soulful pop and rhythm and blues. The group has achieved success with its rendition of Boyz II Men's "End of the Road."
"Each of us is different musically," Walker-Bey said. "One of the best things about the group is we all have great voices. A lot of times in a group, one or two of the guys can sing. We all have solo voices."
4Shore originated in 2008 when the four friends from Salem and Landstown High Schools formed a musical act to earn extra money. They have been regulars at Beach Street USA, a three-day series of concerts at the Oceanfront every May.
Tickets for Friday's game can be purchased by calling (757) 962-8866. Reserved seats are $35 and reserved bleachers are $25. General admission seats are $20. Two children 12-and-under may receive free tickets with the purchase of one adult general admission ticket.
