Moncton Magic News Release

The Moncton Magic are now one win away from their first title in franchise history. After winning Games 1 and 2 on the Avenir Centre hardwood, the team took that same energy and motivation to the rock. The Magic outscored the Edge 33-20 in the fourth quarter, defeating the St Johns Edge, 103-93. Taking a 3-0 series lead in the best of seven 2019 NBLC Finals.

It was an all-around team effort from the Moncton Magic as the team shot 55.4% from the field and five players reached double digit scoring. Trey Kell lead the way with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. How do you want it? Inside, outside, or in transition, Kell can give you a bucket anywhere and anytime. Corey Allmond has struggled with his shot throughout the playoffs, averaging just 10.2 points per game (ppg). However, Allmond is a professional scorer and has proven that during the regular season, averaging 18.1ppg. In Game 3 the combo guard did just that, scoring 18 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Billy White finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Marcus Lewis added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. While Freddie McSwain Jr. had 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, finishing with 14 points and 4 rebounds on 83% shooting.

For a St Johns Edge team without Glen Davis and Olu Ashaolu, Carl English stepped up and had a game-high 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Jarryn Skeete finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Russell Byrd finished with 14 points and 2 assists. While Desmond Lee contributed with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

The Magic and Edge will face one another for Game 4 on Thursday May 16that 7pm in St Johns (6:30pm Atlantic Time Zone). The Moncton Magic find themselves leading comfortably 3-0, while the shorthanded St. Johns Edge will do everything in their power not to be swept at Mile One Centre.
