New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS (July 18, 2012) - Earlier this week, we sat down with New Orleans VooDoo Doll Brittany for this week's "21 Questions with a VooDoo Doll" segment brought to you by Arata and Arata Law Offices. Brittany is in her first season as a VooDoo Doll. Each and every game week, a VooDoo Doll will be featured, and this is the 18th installment of the 2012 season.

Best thing about being a VooDoo Doll:

The best thing about being a VooDoo Doll is just being a part of the VooDoo organization. They are so fan oriented and are always looking for ways to reach out and help the community. When I first heard about the Preauxs versus Jeauxs game and how the New Orleans VooDoo and Playnola were so ready to help out these kids, I knew I was part of something special.

Heels, wedges, or flats and why:

Boots! I don't care if they are heeled, wedges, flat, fuzzy, cowboy or dressy. I have over 20 pairs and am always on the lookout for new additions to my collection. I just feel like I look good in boots because I have like three feet of legs to work with.

Favorite genre of music:

I love all music but my heart belongs to country music! I always dreamed of being a country music star! I may live in a city but listening to country music makes me feel like I want to live in a small town and live on a farm - this is partially the reason I am obsessed with my cowboy boots!

If you had a time machine, what time period would you travel to and why:

I would have to say the 80's! Some of the best music and movies were a product of the 80's and so was I! And I think the fashion of the 80's was awesome! I would love if I could wear leg warmers, cut up sweatshirts and lacey skirts and gloves every day and not get looked at like I was nuts.

Nickname:

B-Dub! Brittany is unfortunately a really common name - the Dolls are proof of this since there are three of us! I had a job once where there were three Brittanys and my coworkers had to come up with nicknames to differentiate between us and I was dubbed B-Dub, which is short for Brittany W.

Who is the person who has influenced you the most in your life and why:

That's a tough one. There are two people that have made me the person I am today. First, my mom! My mom raised my siblings and me by herself and she pushed me to never settle for anything in life and to always be independent. She made me a fighter! And second would be my Popa! My eyes aren't big enough for him. He was the only father figure I had and he would do anything for me at the drop of a hat! He is just one of those people that would do anything for anyone. I've always thought that if I could ever be half as good a person as he is I would be doing pretty good.

What are your favorite hobbies besides dancing:

I recently discovered that I really like doing crafts like painting and decorating things with glitter. I love Glitter!

What advice would you give to young girls:

Tell yourself you are beautiful every day and believe it!

Nobody knows how much you like to...:

Sing! I walk around my house singing all of the time, primarily singing Disney songs! I have little concerts in my kitchen complete with choreography and an audience (my dog and my cat).

Favorite childhood memory:

All of the random field trips my grandmother planned to keep my brother, my sister and I occupied while my mom was at work. Trips to the library, beach volleyball, skating around the block, picnics in the back yard and batting practice!

Favorite TV show:

Criminal minds! Though when I watch it by myself I must do so in my room with the door locked, my dog and a huge kitchen knife sitting right next to me. I definitely watch too much TV.

If you could be one super hero who would it be and why:

I would be Phoenix from X-men! She is a good caring person by nature, but if you get her mad she will go crazy Dark Phoenix on you!

Outside of VooDoo games/appearances what is your occupation:

I am a sign language interpreter for public schools! I love my job! Signing and kids are two of my favorite things, so this is literally my dream job and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Favorite Disney movie:

At the moment...Tangled! I have the soundtrack memorized thanks to Pandora Disney and I sing "when will my life begin" every morning as I am getting ready for work. But, if you pop in any Disney movie I become a little kid sitting cross-legged on the floor, singing along with all of the songs.

Favorite book:

I'm a series kind of girl and I read a lot of books. My favorite series are hunger games, the looking glass wars, Harry Potter and twilight! But honestly, any book that I just finished is normally my "new favorite".

Favorite movie quote:

"..may the odds be ever in your favor."- Effie Trinket, Hunger Games.

Favorite sport to play and why:

Soccer!!! Now, I will preface my explanation by saying that I am in no way, shape or form good at soccer. My little brother took all of those genes, but I love playing it. Hands down greatest time to play is when it's cold and rainy! I don't care what you're skill level, playing in those conditions just makes you feel like you are as good as David Beckham and you're playing for the World Cup or something.

If you could go on a date with Bones or MoJo, who would it be:

Mojo! I like my guys with a little extra fluff. So much better to cuddle with!

Favorite football movie:

Remember the Titans! I am big on the whole stop hate and not only accept, but embrace the differences you see in others, and I feel that this movie emulates that message very well.

Text or phone call kind of girl:

If I never ever had to talk on the phone again I would be a happy girl. I will gladly use 20 texts and an hour and half to have a text conversation that only would have required a minute long phone conversation. I average about 8,000 texts a month, which is an improvement from the 10,000 I used to use.

Worst pickup line you have ever heard:

(After being literally almost knocked over by a guy in Wal-Mart while grocery shopping) "Hey, I'm not from around here, so I kinda don't know where anything is." and that would be how I met my husband, Thomas! We got married two weeks ago.
