Published on May 5, 2004 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-Founder, today announced that the 20th expansion team for the upcoming season will be playing in Harlem, NY. Newman stated, "When Dick Tinkham and I originally conceived the idea of bringing back the ABA and putting a major emphasis on diversity of ownership, our goal was to have a team in Harlem, NY. I remember the conversation very clearly. Now, our goal has been achieved. We are thrilled not only to be in the "Big Apple," but to have our first New York team located in Harlem."

The team will be owned by Wade International, Inc, a fully integrated sports and entertainment marketing agency specializing in the development and on-site management of international events and talent management with a special emphasis on the Japanese market. The company is led by Wray Wade, whose offices are staffed by dedicated professionals in Japan and New York.

Wade commented, "We are absolutely certain that Harlem has been waiting for the entertaining brand of basketball that the ABA offers and we are looking forward to working with the community, organizations and business leaders to make this dream a reality. We believe Harlem is the perfect market for the ABA - a strong, continually growing, working community that loves its hoops."

Wade International represents and manages professional athletes and musicians throughout the world with a wide variety of services, including negotiating contracts, securing endorsements, and public relations and promotions. The company is currently working to develop Japanese baseball players for the Arizona Fall League of Major League Baseball.
