Danbury Hat Tricks News Release
Danbury - The Danbury Hat Tricks welcomed more than 30 aspiring professional hockey players to the Danbury Ice Arena on August 14-15 for the team's 2026 Free Agent Tryouts.
During the two-day camp, players had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Hat Tricks coaching and hockey ops staff while competing for a chance to take the next step toward playing professional hockey in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL).
Following the tryouts, five players were given invitations to return to Danbury for the Hat Tricks' training camp this fall, where they will compete for a spot on the 2026-27 roster.
The Free Agent Tryouts have proven to be a valuable recruiting tool for the organization. Just one year ago, goaltender Kyle Penton attended the camp looking for an opportunity to make an impression. Penton went on to earn a roster spot and ultimately became the Hat Tricks' starting goaltender for the second half of the 2025-26 season, demonstrating the potential pathway the tryout camp provides for players looking to break into the professional ranks.
With another successful Free Agent Tryout Camp complete, the Hat Tricks now turn their attention toward training camp and the upcoming 2026-27 FPHL season. For the five players invited back, the opportunity to follow in Penton's footsteps and earn a place in Danbury is just beginning.
