Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks released their 2020-21 USHL schedule yesterday, which includes games against regional opponents for this year's 14-team league. Opening weekend will be Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28. The Lumberjacks will travel to Dubuque and Green Bay the first week of November and play additional games against Team USA (U17) and Dubuque before coming home for the November 27 home opener.

Both the City of Muskegon and the Muskegon Lumberjacks have put in social distancing guidelines and other measures that will help promote the safety of all fans. As of now, the Lumberjacks will be allowed to have up to 20% capacity at Mercy Health Arena for home games, and they are hoping that the number of fans allowed by the Governor will increase significantly in the next several weeks. However, regardless of the number of fans allowed in at this time, ownership is committed to playing a full schedule and continuing to develop the best junior hockey players in the world.

"If and when more fans will be allowed in the arena, we will be prepared" said Lumberjacks President Mike McCall. "We are looking forward to helping Muskegon rebound from the last several months and to start creating sellouts at Mercy Health Arena."

The delayed start to this season places high priority on the health and safety of our fans and players. Season ticket holders will be the first fans accommodated prior to the sale of any individual tickets.

Besides the required guidelines and safety measures, Mercy Health Arena recently installed ventilation systems designed to modulate the ventilation air based on occupancy and demand. The systems neutralize odors, break down Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and kill and neutralize viruses and bacteria. In short, the newly installed systems are continuously cleaning the air.

Next week, the Lumberjacks will be releasing their promotional calendar for 2020-21 as well as some of the new features at the convention center, which is currently under construction. "We're taking even more precautions to ensure the safety of our patrons. We will be sharing information on the new box office and self-serve ticketing kiosks which will be offered for the upcoming season." Season ticket holders will be contacted early next week about their seats.
