Jacksonville Armada FC News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Armada FC officially announced the naming of defender Aaron Pitchkolan as club captain, and midfielder Kevan George as club vice-captain. The decision comes after the Armada FC 5-0 preseason victory over Flagler College this past Saturday.
"Aaron and Kevan are true professionals -," said head coach Mark Lowry. "They are leaders every day, on and off the field. They are great examples of what being a pro is all about, and we are in a stronger position as a group by having them as captains."
Aaron Pitchkolan is in his first season with the Armada FC after playing the previous four seasons with NASL club Minnesota FC. The 6-foot-2-inch defender is in his seventh season in the NASL, and also boasts six years of MLS experience. At 33 years old, Pitchkolan is the oldest player on the Armada FC roster, and has the most years of professional soccer experience under his belt. Pitchkolan was the club captain for Minnesota United FC from 2013 through 2015.
"I've been around and have seen the league grow, and right now the league is at the highest level it's been," said club captain Aaron Pitchkolan. "I'll bring some experience to the younger guys and will show them how it works during the professional season."
Kevan George is in his second season with the Armada FC after starting 27 games and clocking 2,401 minutes during the 2016 campaign. The Trinidad and Tobago native completed 1,152 passes and created 13 scoring chances last season, while also providing key defensive plays, including 50 clearances and 81 intercepted passes. George is one of the eight returning players from the 2016 roster.
