
2012 All-WCL Teams and Awards Announced

PORTLAND, OREGON - August 25, 2012 - The 2012 All-West Coast League teams have been announced, along with the league individual awards. The Klamath Falls Gems lead the way with seven players named All-WCL, while the Kelowna Falcons have five players honored.
The league's 2012 Most Valuable Player is Wenatchee AppleSox third baseman Mitchell Gunsolus (Gonzaga), who led the league with 48 RBIs, while batting .371 with 3 home runs. He helped lead the AppleSox to the WCL Championship, hitting .333 in the post-season with a home run.
Right-hander Cord Cockrell of the Kelowna Falcons is the 2012 Pitcher of the Year. Cockrell (Louisiana-Lafayette), tied for the league lead with 7 victories, while finishing fourth with a sparkling 2.30 ERA.
Wenatchee AppleSox coach Ed Knaggs was named Coach of the Year, while the Cowlitz Black Bears won the Jim Dietz Sportsmanship Award. Bellingham Bells general manager Nick Caples was named Executive of the Year.
