2011 Schedule and Ticket Prices Announced

November 1, 2010 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Yakima Bears News Release

YAKIMA - The Yakima Bears have released the 2011 Northwest League Schedule today. Fresh from their second half Eastern Division Championship and playoff appearance, the Yakima franchise is already looking forward to another great season in 2011. The Bears will begin the season on the road June 17th, against the Vancouver Canadians who are beginning an affiliation with the Toronto Blue Jays. After 5 games across the border, the Bears return for their home opener against the Spokane Indians on Wednesday, June 22nd. Spokane, an affiliate of the 2010 American League Champion Texas Rangers, is the team that knocked the Bears out of the 2010 playoffs so revenge will be top of mind.

The Northwest League will continue to follow the highly successful split season format. The format was adopted on a trial basis for 2010, but it was so popular and enjoyed by all, that the league adopted it for good at last week's league meeting. The split season will crown a first half division champion on Monday July 25th. The records will then return to 0-0 and teams will play for the second half pennant. If the same team wins the second half, the next best overall season record will advance to the divisional playoffs. The 2011 Divisional playoffs will begin Sunday September 4th and include a 3 game series. The two divisional winners will play another 3 game series to crown the Northwest League Champion.

The 2011 schedule is very balanced with each team receiving 6 Friday and 6 Saturday home games. The Bears front office staff is busy putting together another great promotional schedule for 2011 that is scheduled to be released sometime in early spring. It will include 5 fireworks shows, 5 Thirsty Thursdays, and 6 Family Feast Fridays.

"Being able to release our schedule so early in the year is a huge advantage because it gives us 9 months to plan for the next season," added Bears General Manager K.L. Wombacher. "2010 was a lot of fun for our fans, players, and front office staff. It was a great season for us on the field and off and we expect 2011 to be even better."

The Bears franchise is committed to offering the most affordable family entertainment in Central Washington. As a result, ticket prices will remain the same for 2011 with prices starting at $5.50 and maxing out at $9.50. Season ticket, Mini plans, and the popular Gold Club tickets are now on sale at the Bears downtown office, online at yakimabears.com, or by calling 457-5151.
