
2008 Season Schedule Announced

ROCKFORD - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league commissioner Cheri Kempf today announced the schedule for the 2008 season for the league's six affiliate teams.
The Thunder will open the 48-game regular season schedule on Thursday, May 29 when the Chicago Bandits visit Rockford. The four-game series marks the second time in as many years that the two teams will open the season in Rockford.
Rockford will continue its home schedule for the next 12 games by welcoming in the 2007 Cowles Cup Champion Washington Glory for a four-game series. The series will begin with a 6:35 p.m. game time on Wednesday, June 4. After Washington, the Thunder will play its two international opponents on the schedule. The team will open with the Netherlands on June 11, while Team Canada comes to town on June 19.
After opening with 16 straight games at home, the Thunder will hit the road for 12 straight contests, beginning with a weekend series in New England. The Thunder will stay out east for the next eight games, as they will take on the Philadelphia Force for four and the Washington Glory for four before returning home.
The Thunder will return back to Sportscore One on July 23 for the start of a home and away with the Akron Racers. During the home series with Akron, the Thunder will play its one weekday day game of the season with first pitch on July 24 scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
In the season's final month of August, the Thunder will play home series against New England and Philadelphia before closing out the regular season in Elgin against the Chicago Bandits.
Upon completion of the regular season, the top four teams will earn the right to play in the NPF Championship Series, double-elimination format tournament held in Kimberly, Wis. The playoffs in Kimberly will run from August 22-24 and additional information can be found at www.cardinalyouthsoftball.com.
