Philadelphia Force News Release

Allentown, Pa. - The Philadelphia Force, along with rest of the National Pro Fastpitch league, have announced their 2008 schedule. The Force, who will call ECTB Stadium at Bicentennial Park home for their third year, will begin the 48-game campaign on Thursday, May 29 when they welcome the Netherlands National Team to Allentown for their first ever visit. The Netherlands series will conclude on Sunday, June 1.

The league has adopted a balanced schedule for 2008, meaning each team will play a home and away series against the other teams in the league. Each series will remain a four-game set. In addition to the 40 games against NPF teams, each team will host two international teams in four-game sets to complete the schedule. For the Force, Netherlands and Chinese Taipei will be the opponents.

"We are very excited about the chance of exposing all NPF teams to our fans", said Tom Kleinman, Owner/GM of the Force.

After opening with the Netherlands, the Force will host the New England Riptide Wednesday, June 4 through Saturday, June 7.

Following 10 days off and a road trip to New England, the Force return to Allentown to play Chinese Taipei Thursday, June 26 through Sunday, June 29.

After spending the Independence Day weekend in Akron, Ohio playing the Racers, the Force and the Rockford Thunder, 2007 NPF runner-ups, square off on Wednesday, July 9 through Saturday, July 12 at ECTB Stadium.

A home and home series with the Chicago Bandits follows Rockford with the Force hosting the Bandits, who did not meet the Force last year, from Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24.

The Force then close out July and start August with a home and home series with the defending NPF champions, the Washington Glory. The Glory will make their only visit to Allentown Wednesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 2.

The final road trip of the season sends the Force to Rockford before returning home for the regular season's final four-game series on Wednesday, August 13 through Saturday, August 16. The Racers will be the opponent for that series.

The top four teams in the NPF will move on to the playoffs, which will be held in Kimberly, Wisconsin on Friday, August 22 through Sunday, August 24.

Schedule notes:

The two Sunday home games on June 1 (Netherlands) and June 29 (Chinese Taipei) will have a 5:05 PM first pitch. All other home games are slated for 7:05 PM.
