Toronto - The National Lacrosse League has announced the cancellation of the 2008 season as a result of the NLL and the Professional Lacrosse Players Association failing to come to a collective bargaining agreement before the October 15th deadline.

"We are very disappointed in the outcome of this situation," says Rock president, Brad Watters. "However, you cannot come to an agreement with a group that doesn't want to negotiate. The players union was given enough time to accept the proposal and meet the deadline."

The Toronto Rock are primarily concerned for their loyal fans. "We will remain in touch with them and keep them up to date with the development of the franchise" says Watters.

Watters also added "As an ownership group, we didn't want this. It is unfortunate for everyone involved, but hopefully we can use this as an opportunity to re-structure and re-build for a 2009 season."

The 2008 season was to be a celebration for the Rock heading into their tenth season in the League. The season was scheduled to begin January 11th, 2007 at the Air Canada Centre.

Toronto Rock staff will contact all Season Ticket Holders regarding the refund policy within the next couple weeks.
