2004 CFL playoffs on RDS

MONTREAL, Tuesday, November 2, 2004 --- On the road to the Grey Cup Championship, the Réseau des sports (RDS) is proud to announce that it will broadcast all of the Canadian Football League playoff games.

"CFL football occupies an important place in our programming schedule and satisfies the demand of our viewers. Moreover, the annual Grey Cup game is the most watched event on RDS. So, it's completely natural for us to offer each of the playoff games as well," said François Messier, Vice-President of Programming at the Réseau des sports.

On Friday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m., Denis Casavant and Pierre Vercheval will provide the play-by-play for the East Division Semi-Final games, which will pit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats against the Toronto Argonauts at SkyDome. The winning team will then go up against the Montreal Alouettes, who have gone to the Grey Cup Championship game three times in the past four years. That game will be broadcast on RDS live from the Olympic Stadium, in Montreal, starting at 7:00 p.m. E.T., on November 14th.

On Sunday, November 7th, the West Division matches up in its semi-final playoff game, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders facing the Edmonton Eskimos. The game will be broadcast on RDS at 7:00 p.m. E.T. The winner will then play the BC Lions for the West Division Championship title on November 14, at 4:00 p.m.E.T., another game that will be broadcast on the RDS. Marc Labrecque and Jacques Dussault will provide the play-by-play for the West Division Championship game.

Finally, East and West Division champions will move on to Ottawa on November 21st for the Grey Cup final. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.E.T., with RDS experts Denis Casavant, Pierre Vercheval, Claude Mailhot and David Arsenault offering on air pregame commentary as of 5:00 p.m. to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the two remaining teams.

In addition to game broadcasts of these five games, fans also have an opportunity to enjoy indepth insight and analysis by Pierre Vercheval and Marc Labrecque on Sports 30 Magazine, Mondays and Fridays at 6:00 p.m.

November 5, 7:30 p.m.: East Division Semi-Final - Hamilton vs. Toronto

November 7, 7:00 p.m.: West Division Semi-Final - Saskatchewan vs. Edmonton

November 14, 4:00 p.m.: West Division Championship - Saskatchewan or Edmonton vs. BC

November 14, 7:00 p.m.: East Division Championship - Hamilton or Toronto vs. Montreal

November 21, 5:00 p.m.: Grey Cup pre-game

November 21, 6:00 p.m.: Grey Cup 2004, Ottawa
