17 BlueSox to Appear at PSAC Tournament

Butler, PA - April 27, 2014 - Kelly Automotive Park will once again host the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament and a profusion of former and future BlueSox will be participating.

The top four teams from the PSAC's east and west divisions will participate in the double-elimination competition, which will start with four games on Wednesday and run through Saturday.

The BlueSox will have 17 former or future players at the tournament, including at least one on each of the four western teams of Mercyhurst, Seton Hill, Slippery Rock, and California University of PA.

Cal U's quartet of former Sox' players include Matt Peters (2013-14), GJ Senchak (2013), Justin Taylor (2014), and Butler-native Mick Fennell (2014). Infielder David Marcus, pitcher Andre Jones, and catcher Parker Lynn are slated to be with the Sox in 2015. Former Butler manager Anthony Rebyanski is also in his first season as an assistant coach for the Vulcans.

Seton Hill has six former BlueSox in Butler-native Cody Herald (2013-14), Taylor Schmidt (2013-14), Josh Forbes (2013), Brett Sullivan (2012-14), Nick Sell (2014), and Pat McCarthy (2013).

The top-seed Mercyhurst has a pair of Butler High School graduates in Colin McKee (2013-14) and Tyler Slepski, who started the final home game for Butler last summer and will return this summer as well. Lakers' outfielder Ryan Siegel (2011) graduated from Freeport High School.

Jon Anderson, who pitched for Butler after his freshman year in 2013 and who will return this summer, is the sole Sox presence on Slippery Rock.

Shippensburg, Millersville, West Chester, and East Stroudsburg will represent the east division. The defending champions, Kutztown, did not make the tournament.

Slippery Rock and West Chester will kick things off at 9:30am on Wednesday. They will be followed by East Stroudsburg vs Mercyhurst (12:30pm), Shippensburg vs Seton Hill (3:30pm), and Cal U vs Millersville (6:30pm), according to the PSAC website.

The BlueSox will begin their seventh season of play at the KAP with their home opener on Thursday, May 28 at 6:35pm.

They will open the season on May 27 as the first-ever Prospect League guests in Jamestown, New York.
