TAMPA, Fla. - "Bark at the Ballpark" returns to George M. Steinbrenner Field on Saturday, May 14th. The gates will open promptly at 4:30 p.m. and the Tampa Yankees will take on the Clearwater Threshers at 6:00 p.m.
Fans are invited to bring their pup to interact with local pet businesses that will be handing out giveaways, coupons, and business information. All dogs must have a $4 ticket, valid county tags, and current vaccinations in order to enter the stadium. Dog tickets will benefit "K9s for Camo" and may be purchased at the George M. Steinbrenner Field Box Office. In addition, players and coaches will debut custom jerseys to mark the beginning of the fifth annual "Everyday Heroes Jersey Auction."
"K9s for Camo" is an organization that provides service dogs to veterans that have returned from serving our country with post-traumatic stress disorder. An estimated 300,000 U.S. veterans return home with PTSD diagnoses. A K9 partner helps veterans reintegrate back into the social aspects of being a civilian while having the relief that their partner is there to take the night shift, comfort them during stressful times and help them reconnect with positive emotions through praising their dogs. A K9 partner can help repair a veteran's ability to form attachments during the process of training and building trust that will increase the quality of life for both the dog and the veteran.
To purchase tickets to "Bark at the Ballpark," fans can visit the George M. Steinbrenner Field Box Office or www.tybaseball.com. Tickets start at $4 for upper reserved seating, $6 for lower reserved seating, and parking is always free.
