Orlando Titans News Release

New York, NY - After winning their first game of the 2008 season on the road against the Portland LumberJax last weekend, the New York Titans are prepared to battle their upstate rivals the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, January 19 at 7:30pm.

The Titans went 0-2 against the Bandits last season, with a loss on the road and at home, and will be looking to avenge those losses in HSBC Arena Saturday night.

"Our guys are driven to win the next game. Last week was a good start but this week we simply have to play our best," said Titans head coach Adam Mueller. "Buffalo has been one of the top tier teams in the NLL for a few years now. They have a very potent offense and a physical, athletic defense that thrives on making teams make decision under pressure. I think we should be a bit more familiar with their style this season but how we handle, adjust and react will determine our success."

Entering the match against Buffalo Saturday, Titans Captain Casey Powell is in the top 20 in scoring in the NLL after only one game. He scored four goals and notched three assists in the Titans 14-11 victory against the Jax on January 12th.

Titans goalie Matt Vinc is tied for fourth place in NLL Goalie Leaders entering Saturday's game, after having logged an 80% saves percentage in the win against Portland.

Mueller expects his team to enter Saturday's match against Buffalo with the same energy the team had against Portland, when the Titans went up 7-1 in the first quarter.

"Buffalo comes out strong every game, especially at home, so our focus to make them earn every goal they score," Mueller said. "On offense, we need to play smart and try and control the tempo of the game. When Buffalo dictates, they are at their best."

The Bandits enter Saturday's game 1-1 after dropping a game to the Rochester Knighthawks during their Home-and-Home series played this past weekend. Both teams lost their games at home. On Friday, the Knighthawks beat the Bandit 12-9 and on Saturday, the Bandits beat the Knighthawks 14-9.

The Bandits currently have two players in the top ten in scoring - Mark Steenhuis and John Tavares are tied for 6th place with 11 points this season.

After the game against Buffalo on Saturday night, the Titans play one more game on the road against Toronto before opening at home against the San Jose Stealth on January 31st at 7:30pm at Madison Square Garden.
