Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Following a four-point weekend for the Wichita Falls Wildcats, forward Austin Beaulieu and goaltender Austin Shaw earned recognition as the Easton Divisional Stars of the Week for the South Division for the week ending Sept. 28, it was announced Monday.

"We are thrilled to see Beaulieu and Shaw honored for their strong play," Wildcats Head Coach John LaFontaine said. "Those two have been terrific for us early in the season and they both played a large role in our team's success last weekend, so this honor is well-deserved."

Beaulieu was named the South Division Star of the Week after a dominant performance against the Topeka Roadrunners this past weekend. The first-year forward had four goals and an assist over two games to pace the 'Cats' attack against one of the league's stingiest defenses, and was a plus-5 with 15 shots on goal in the two contests.

The Coral Springs, Fla.-native received credit for the game-winning goal in both wins over Topeka, giving him a team-leading three GWGs in seven games played. In total, Beaulieu now has eight points (five goals, three assists) through seven games played to lead the Wildcats through the early stage of the season.

Shaw was tabbed as the South Division's Second Star of the Week after he continued his hot play in net. The Colorado-born netminder turned aside 51 of 53 shots faced over the two games to pick up his third- and fourth-straight wins. With one month of his junior career completed, Shaw currently leads all North American Hockey League goaltenders in wins (4), goals against average (1.00) and save percentage (.966).

The awards for Beaulieu and Shaw are the first weekly awards for the Wildcats this season. Shaw and forward Kevin Charyszyn had previously earned Honorable Mention in the Divisional Stars of the Week.

The Wildcats are next in action on Oct. 3 and 4 when they host the Lone Star Brahmas at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. Oct. 4 is First Responders Appreciation Night presented by Whataburger, with all police, firefighters and EMTs receiving free admission.
