Wildcats Fall, 5-3, in Rouyn-Noranda

February 27, 2026 - The Wildcats never had the lead in Rouyn-Noranda Friday night in a 5-3 road setback to the Huskies before 2,200 fans at the Glencore Arena. The Huskies took period leads of 2-1 and 4-2 into the third before the Cats pulled to within one goal on Alex Mercier's 24th of the season. Other Wildcats goals Friday night were Rian Chudzinski (19th) and Gavin Cornforth (9th). A breakaway goal by Thomas Verdon at 17:51 secured the Huskies win. Desnoyers Dominates Foreurs, Cats Back in First Place

February 27, 2026 - Cats captain Caleb Desnoyers was a one-man wrecking crew Thursday night in Val D'or with two goals (17th, 18th) and four assists leading the Cats over the Foreurs 8-2 to regain first-place atop the QMJHL standings. Desnoyers six-point game also moved him to 202 points in his QMJHL career. Gavin Cornforth chipped in with his 8th goal and two assists. Islanders Hand Cats First Shutout of the Season

February 21, 2026 - The Charlottetown Islanders completed a 2-win weekend over first-place Moncton stopping the Cats 2-0 before 5,200 at the Avenir Centre Saturday night. It was an exciting goaltenders battle between Islander Don Hickey and Cats' Rudy Guimond. A late powerplay from Nathan Leek at 13:47 of the third was the game-winner and Ross Campbell scored the empty-netter at 19.11 to preserve the shutout. Hickey made 29 saves, Guimond 23 stops. February 20, 2026 - The Wildcats 12-game win streak - best in the CHL - ended Friday night in Charlottetown with a 6-5 shootout loss to the Islanders before 3,100 fans at Eastlink Centre. It was Charlottetown's first victory over the Cats in five tries this season. Moncton rallied from down 5-3 in the third to force overtime on goals by Gabe Smith (29th) and Niko Tournas (37th).
