September 9, 2026 - (Gary, IN) The American Association of Professional Baseball announced today that Gary SouthShore RailCats centerfielder Korry Howell was selected as the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year. Howell is a 28-year-old from Chicago that played in the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres organizations. The power-speed threat made history after homering for the 20th time on Monday to become the first RailCats player to be a 20-20 and 20-30 in history. Nick Podkul Selected as Methodist Hospital Player of the Month for August/September

September 8, 2026 - (Gary, IN) The 2026 season has come to an end with the RailCats finishing 42-57 and setting numerous offensive records as a team. In the middle of it all is the Methodist Hospitals Player of the Month of August/September, Nick Podkul. Podkul, the local product, finished his first year in Gary strong. September 6, 2026 - (Rosemont, IL) In the final series of the 2026 season, the Gary SouthShore RailCats returned to Impact Field in Rosemont to take on the Chicago Dogs. The RailCats lost the first game on a walk-off hit in extras from Jaylyn Williams. The RailCats started All-Star Peyton Long and went against Spencer Boynton make his starting debut.
