Sabres Agree to Terms with Villalta

July 4, 2026 - (Rochester, NY) - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has signed goaltender Matthew Villalta to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. Villalta, 27, completed his third season with the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners in 2025-26, posting a 16-12-3 record with a 3.10 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage in 33 games. Amerks Name Griffin Della Penna as New Broadcaster and Multimedia Journalist

July 3, 2026 - (Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Americans announced today that Griffin Della Penna has been named the team's new broadcaster and multimedia journalist beginning with the 2026-27 season. In his new role, Della Penna will take over for the legendary Don Stevens as the primary play-by-play voice of the Amerks for all radio and TV broadcasts as well as assist in the creation, development, and distribution of engaging content across the team's various digital and social media platforms. McDonough Agrees to One-Year Deal with Sabres

July 2, 2026 - (Rochester, NY) - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Aidan McDonough one a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. McDonough, 26, completed his third full season in the AHL and first with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2025-26, posting 23 goals and 21 assists for 44 points along with 140 shots in 65 games, all of which were career-highs. Amerks Sign Peca to Two-Year AHL Deal

July 2, 2026 - (Rochester, NY) - Rochester Americans General Manager Stacy Roest announced today that the team has signed veteran forward Matthew Peca to a two-year American Hockey League contract. Peca, 33, joins the Amerks after splitting last season between the Springfield Thunderbirds and Syracuse Crunch, totaling 47 points (12+35) in 63 combined games at the AHL level.
