
Warriors Fall to Blue in Record-Setting Game at Oracle Arena

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors (18-15) fell to the Oklahoma City Blue (25-11) 105-96 on Sunday night at Oracle Arena. The Warriors established a new single-game D-League attendance record with a crowd of 17,497 packing Oracle Arena in the first-ever D-League game on Golden State's home floor.
James Southerland led the Warriors with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Alex Hamilton added 15 points and 6 rebounds off the bench, while Dennis Clifford scored 14 points. Phil Pressey notched a double-double with 10 points, 10 assists, and 5 rebounds.
The Blue were paced by Reggie Williams who led all scorers with 22 points. Dakari Johnson added 21 points and 7 rebounds. Daniel Hamilton notched 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Dez Wells scored 14 points and 7 rebounds off the bench for Oklahoma City.
The opening quarter was an evenly-fought battle as both the Warriors and the Blue looked to find offensive flow. Tightly-contested play continued through the second period which saw 4 ties and 4 lead changes with neither team leading by more than 5 points. The Warriors swung the momentum in their favor in the final minutes of the half, going on a 14-4 run to grab a 51-41 lead entering the break. James Southerland scored 12 of his 20 points, including 4 three-pointers, in the second quarter.
The Blue erupted in the third frame, outscoring the Warriors 40-23 while shooting 77.3% from the field. Dakari Johnson fueled Oklahoma City, scoring 11 points in the frame, and going 5-of-5 from the field. A 9-2 run from the Blue in the final minutes of the period topped off a 17-point swing that gave the guests a 7-point lead heading into the final period.
Though the Warriors would come within 3 points of the visitors, Oklahoma City would go on to hold their lead through the entire fourth quarter. Santa Cruz shot 23.8% from the field, including a mere 9.1% from beyond-the-arc, allowing the Blue to extend their lead to as many as 10 points.
