Warriors Defeat Legends in Showcase Matchup

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Santa Cruz Warriors (14-12) defeated the Texas Legends (12-11) 113-97 on Saturday morning in their second and final game of the 2017 NBA D-League Showcase at Hershey Centre. Seven Warriors finished the game in double-digit scoring.

Dennis Clifford finished with a double-double for the Warriors, notching 17 points and 10 rebounds. Scott Wood contributed 17 points, including 5 3-pointers. Phil Pressey added 16 points, 14 assists, and 5 rebounds to notch a double-double.

The Legends were paced by a game-high 32 points from C.J. Williams, who shot 11-of-16 from the field and 5-of-9 from deep. Manny Harris logged a game-high 44 minutes and recorded 19 points, eight assists and six rebounds for Texas.

The Warriors jumped out to an early advantage to lead by as many as 7 points to start the opening frame. Santa Cruz's James Southerland led all scorers in the first, netting eight points in as many minutes for the Warriors, in a frame that featured five ties and finished with the two teams knotted at 23.

Terrence Drisdom came off the bench in the second quarter to score nine points for Santa Cruz, powering an 11-0 run to give the Warriors a 12-point lead. Texas responded with a hot team shooting effort (66.7%) to outscore the Warriors 11-0 in the final 2:14 of the frame to cut the deficit to one point heading into the break.

Harris went five-of-seven from the field in the third to score 13 points for Texas, but Santa Cruz ended the period on an 18-9 run over the final six minutes to take a 78-66 lead and favorable momentum into the final frame.

The Warriors put up 35 points on 14-of-21 shooting in the fourth quarter, led by 14 points from Clifford, as they bounced back with a win to close out their Showcase slate.
