Fayetteville Guard News Release

Fayetteville, NC --- Former Fayetteville Guard Juan Warren is taking his professional football career to the next level. On Tuesday Warren signed a one-year contract with the Wiesbaden Phantoms of the German Football League, under the provision of American Football Verband Deutschland.

"This will be my first time playing in Europe," Warren said. "My emotions are mixed, as I have such a strong bond with the Bragg and Pope Military community; as well as, Fayetteville and surrounding communities. Also, I had a good bond forming with the other players on the Guard. I hope I have the same kind of fans who have supported me from day one. So sad to go, but it is also a better opportunity for myself."

Warren, a 6'3" 289 pound tight end/defensive tackle, is Texas native who's been playing football since he was seven. He was a three sport athlete in high school, earning honors in baseball at the conference level and was recognized with First Team/All State honors for football.

After high school Warren attended, on a full athletic scholarship, Texas Christian University where he continued to play football and baseball, and currently holds multiple TCU tight end receiving records. Unable to complete his time at TCU, Warren enlisted in the United States Army where he served seven years as an elite Army Ranger. During his military career Warren played for the Columbus Cottonmouths in Georgia and following his service, Warren teamed-up with the Cape Fear Wildcats.

"This opportunity will enhance my career by giving me a higher level of visibility," Warren said. "It is more of the game I am accustomed. Also it gives me an opportunity to play in events such as the World Games in 2006 and compete against all of Europe's best players. This will definitely tighten up my shot group so to speak. I am excited and motivated at the career move."
