Washington Valor quarterback Arvell Nelson stretches for yardage against the Baltimore Brigade

The Valor (6-5) defeated the Baltimore Brigade (6-5), 47-40, Saturday night at Royal Farms Arena. Valor quarterback Arvell Nelson threw for 271 yards and totaled seven touchdowns (five passing, two rushing) and was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
With the win, Washington clinches a postseason berth for the second consecutive season. The 2019 postseason will kick off with a pair of home-and-home series between the top four teams in the league (#1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3) with games played on the weekends of July 26 and August 2. Teams will advance to ArenaBowl XXXII based on the aggregate score of the two games played.

Dual threat
Nelson's seven-touchdown performance against Baltimore marked the seventh time since joining the Valor that he registered 3+ passing touchdowns and 2+ rushing touchdowns in the same game. It was the third time this season Nelson has hit those benchmarks.
Valor to host cheer and dance clinic on July 19
The Valor will host an AFL Cheer & Dance Clinic on Friday, July 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Capital One Arena. Participating dancers will have the opportunity to work with a professional cheer and dance team and learn a number of steps, movements and routines - all on the Valor turf field. After the clinic, all participating dancers will be invited to perform at halftime of the Valor's regular-season finale the following day, July 20, at 3:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
All participating dancers must be between the ages of 6-12 and are not required to have prior dance experience. The clinic, a T-shirt and ticket to the July 20 Valor game are all included for just $40.
Valor host Destroyers Saturday in regular-season finale
The Valor close out their regular season this Saturday, July 20, hosting the Columbus Destroyers at 3:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena. Washington won the teams' only prior meeting this season, 29-27, in Week 5 on a last-second touchdown by wide receiver Douglas McNeil III. Saturday afternoon's game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Washington and ESPN3.

Valor players speak at local youth camp
Valor players Douglas McNeil III, Leon Mackey and Fredrick Obi visited with youth at a D.C. Parks and Recreation camp in Southeast D.C., speaking on how to be successful in sports, the importance of being active and involved in athletics at a young age and how the lessons learned through sports can be applied throughout life.
