Troy Biladeau Returns for Second Season as Head Coach; First Open Tryout Camp Date Set

(Moline, Ill.) - Today the Quad City Steamwheelers announced that Head Coach Troy Biladeau will return for the team's 10th anniversary season.
"I am glad that Biladeau has decided to return for a second season," said Shawn Brown, the Vice President/General Manager of the Quad City Steamwheelers. "We asked him to bring in a group of quality guys that would be great role models for the community and also good players on the field. He did exactly what he was asked to do and we look forward to seeing him build off of last season."
Last season Biladeau led the Steamwheelers to an 8-8 regular season record and a playoff berth. Under Biladeau's tutelage the team set numerous team and individual records in his first season as a head coach. Prior to accepting the head position with the Steamwheelers last season Biladeau was the Defensive Coordinator/Assistant Coach for the team in 2007 and previously served as an assistant in 2001.
"I am excited to be back," said Biladeau. "While we accomplished our goal of making the playoffs last year, we wanted to do more. My goal is to build off of last years accomplishments and put another exciting team on the field that can compete for an ArenaCup."
Steamwheelers Set First Open Tryout Date
The team also announced today that they will hold the first Open Tryout for the 2009 season on Saturday, October 25 at the O.S. Sports Complex (on Brady Street in Davenport) from 8:00 a.m. until noon. The cost to tryout is $60.
"An open tryout is a good opportunity for guys from the region to come in and get looked at by one of our coaches," said Biladeau. "Last year we found several guys that we invited to camp based on the open tryout and two of them made the squad.
The camp will be broken down into two parts with LB's, FB's, OL's and DL's trying out from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00a.m. with QB's, DB's, WR's and kickers to follow.
