Trio Leads Iowa to Victory on Day Three of D-League Showcase

Mississauga, Ontario- The Iowa Energy (4-20) pulled away late to defeat the Salt Lake City Stars (7-18) 108-94 on Day Three of the NBA D-League Showcase.

JaKarr Sampson tallied a team-high 23 points on 8-11 shooting from the field and Wayne Selden Jr. added 18 points and seven rebounds as the Energy won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Memphis Grizzlies assignee Wade Baldwin IV was four rebounds shy of recording a triple-double for Iowa, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds and 12 assists in 30 minutes of action.

After a tightly contested first half which included 16 lead changes in the first 22 minutes, the Energy ended the second quarter on a 10-2 run to take a 58-51 advantage into the locker room.

Salt Lake City slowly worked their way back into the game in the third quarter, typing the game at 74-74 with the first made basket of the fourth quarter. A five-point Stars advantage with less than 11 minutes remaining in the game was their largest lead of the day.

Iowa finished on a 34-20 run while limiting the Stars to 31.8 percent shooting from the field in the fourth quarter to get the win and even the season series at 1-1.

Diamond Stone had a huge game for the Stars, finishing with 27 points and 14 rebounds. The Clippers assignee also knocked down 8 of 10 free throws.

The Energy will make their second and final appearance of the D-League Showcase tomorrow afternoon against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 2:00 p.m. CST.

The Energy return home on Jan. 28 to take on the Northern Arizona Suns for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. Memphis Night, presented by KXNO, will feature a barbecue apron giveaway courtesy of Big Daddy's Bar-B-Q, the Memphis Grizz and "The Kings of the Court" halftime act and more.
